活動摘要

國內在晶片設計與相關領域上,不論學術界或產業界,皆有扎實的發展基礎。為了讓學界與業界的研發技術與經驗可以相互交流,培育人才,厚植基石,我們規劃了高階應用處理器技術交流論壇,期望透過跨界(學界與業界)定期的意見交流,提供聯盟課程模組重要的設計參考。高階應用處理器技術交流論壇包含了五大主題領域,分別為系統軟體與平台、NOC記憶體系統、多核心SoC整合、處理器軟硬體核心系統、低功率應用處理器系統,每個主題領域都舉辦一次論壇。

題:Life in a processor team

  要:藉由描述處理器開發團隊的日常,引導出開發處理器所需要的技術,工程師的特性,態度以及知識,並引用一些例子,與學生分享處理器開發所面對的樂趣與難題。並說明軟體與硬體的分界正在消失,希望藉此,激發學生對處理器以及系統硬軟體的學習興趣。

主講人:Marvell Semiconductor Inc.  莊育棋處長 (Director, Processor Engineering)

  歷:Yu-Chi (Rich) Chuang is a director of processor engineering at Marvell Semiconductor Inc. (based on Marvell Taiwan Ltd.). From 2000 to 2004, he was a manager of system software at Faraday Technology Corp. to help software development tools for DSP and RISC processors. From 2004 to 2005, he was a manager of software team at OSSTI for customizing software development tool in 8/16/32 bit microcontroller. He joined Marvell in 2005 as a director of processor engineering, leading a team to work on processor design, verification, and HW/SW performance optimization. The major working items contain GCC/LLVM compiler optimizations and toolchain development, heterogeneous computation environment development in OpenCL and RenderScript, processor performance modeling and analysis, and Web browser and JIT VM performance optimization.

講題:Designing Hardware Accelerators for Real-Time Light Field Photography

摘  要:Light fields, photography, and high performance imaging are the core technology of computational photography. In this talk, the principles of light fields will be first reviewed. I will then talk about different light field camera systems, and summarize the challenges in system integration. In the second part of the talk, new digital photography applications enabled by light field camera systems will be introduced. Finally, I will discuss the hardware accelerators developed by our lab at National Taiwan University. With pipelining and parallel processing technology, real-time imaging capability can be achieved for next generation computational photography.

主講人:台灣大學電機系 盧奕璋教授

簡  歷:Yi-Chang Lu received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA, in 2005. He has been with the Graduate Institute of Electronics Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University since 2006, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. His research interests include digital circuit and system design, data processing algorithms and hardware accelerators. Dr. Lu is a senior member of IEEE, and a member of ACM.

摘  要:Mobile devices are becoming the center of our digital life.  With higher performance demands and ever more complex user scenarios, the spec of mobile device SoC evolves from generation to generation.  In this talk, we discuss the marketing trends of mobile marketing, then discuss the technology trends of mobile devices advancement from CPU, GPU, Connectivity, memory requirement, and eco systems.

主講人: 安謀國際科技股份有限公司 (台灣ARM) 

林修平經理   Segment Marketing Manager (Mobile and Home Segments)

  歷:目前任職於ARM台灣分公司市場經理,主要負責台灣移動通訊暨數位家庭的市場開發與相關生態系統(Ecosystem)建置;在IC半導體業界有十數年的工作經驗,並在行動通訊、數位電視與數位相框、網路通訊協定,VoIP等領域扮演研發與技術支援的關鍵要職。

蔡武男經理   Regional Marketing Manager for Media Processing Division

  歷:目前任職於ARM 多媒體處理器部門,擔任區域行銷經理,負責大中華區ARM Mali GPU推廣;在GPU領域有十數年的開發及團隊專案管理經驗,於OpenGL ES規格定義之初,即活躍於亞太區Khronos活動推廣OpenGL ES硬件加速。

講  題:A Power-Efficient Processor Family for Internet of Things

摘  要:Requirements for the emerging Internet of Things (IOT) applications create new opportunities for processor optimizations. The AndeStar V3 architecture provides flexible foundation to implement a wide range of power-efficient CPU core families. We will introduce a compact processor with built-in flash support to serve the cost- and power-conscious sensing nodes, a processor with flexible data engine support to accelerate the heavy duty connectivity/networking layer, and a performance-efficient 1 GHz+ processor to serve application layer devices. Furthermore, as the functionality and complexity of applications increase, an embedded processor is no longer just a piece of hardware but requires a complete ecosystem. We will explain how software and hardware infrastructure works with real examples from Andes. Andes Technology is a leading processor IP company in Asia and is listed as one of “EEtimes' Silicon 60 Hot Startups to Watch.”

主講人:晶心科技 資深架構師 陳奕成博士

簡  歷:Dr. Chen is a Senior Architect at Andes Technology responsible for the definition of processor architecture. Prior to joining Andes, he has held a variety of management and engineering positions at Mstar Semiconductor and several Silicon Valley companies including nVidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). He was also co-founder at two startups in both Silicon Valley and Taiwan. He has been involved in the design of more than 30 SoC Chips and holds multiple U.S. patents. Dr. Chen received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University, M.S. in Computer Engineering from Princeton University, and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from University of Michigan.
